Updates from the Farm
The tractor’s free! Thanks to a very large jack, a very long metal pole, and several laws of physics, John and I managed to free the tractor from the rock it was stuck on. It’s now back in its barn, with the mowing deck, just waiting for a ride to the repair shop. When we bring it home, it will rest until Spring. Yes. That sounds like a very good idea!
Also in the “Update” folder is the progress we’ve been making on rehabbing the little barn! Thanks to several of our marvelous donors, we’ve been able to purchase 5 new windows, the steel siding for two new barn doors and two sides of the barn, along with 400 feet of 5 foot high wrapped wire fencing! We’re working on the doors and siding first because, well because it snowed here two days ago, and it’s pretty clear that winter’s coming fast! We’ve also bought several bales of hay and cleaned the old straw and manure out of the largest stall. This Saturday, we’ll fill the stall with fresh straw and repair the gate. Our goal is to have a safe, secure place for at least one or two animals in need over the winter if they come to us. Next Spring, we’ll work on raising the roof, siding the rest of the barn, and re-configuring the stalls for more animals.
Every day, we move closer to officially opening the Sundance Sanctuary for farm animals, and I’m having a marvelous time learning so much and seeing such progress working toward that goal. We are very blessed to have all of you supporting us in this vision! Thank you TONS!!
